[FIXED] real directory eat itself

I was hoping the fix to the real directory would fix this serious issue.  When I go to the apps directory (in real:///) and slide down past the first few rows and click on a folder to open it.  Instead it just disappears inside another directory.  I have to go to an external file manager to hunt it down again.  Well I can hunt it down by opening directories randomly until I find it.  but I just tried to open the eyeNav directory and now I have to go track it down.

What version do you have this problem with?

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

I'm gonna take back what this post just said, until I test again.  My memory seems fuzzy on this one for some reason.  If it happens again, I'll pay more attention and get back to you on it.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

Ok, it does not occur on the master, rather the master excludes these folders from being moved. (sounds good in theory).  So I just need to figure out what's wrong with my site5. I remember replacing the files and renaming the old ones, but I'll check again.  I'm glad you caught that bug.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

I didn't really know what else to do.  All of my installs were having this bug except the master.  So I just dumped the master system files on top of my site 5 system files. The bug is now gone from there. It didn't even mess up my custom config too much.  So far, I merely had to delete a bunch of superfluous icons from my desktop.  Maybe it has something to do with upgrading from 0.9.0 to .0.9.5, or maybe I was still missing a patch on all my installs.  I'm not sure. I'm just glad the app folders don't blink out of existence anymore.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

I'm putting this back over here as bug report. It's got this bug again, but only in the real/extern/ directories, specifically the real/extern/apps/ directories are jumping into each other when clicked, the real/apps/ seem to be fine.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

I surfed through the real directories for a while now, but never had this problem - using the latest Git revision.

Are you using double clicking to open a folder? Switch that and try again - any better?

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

yes, I prefer double clicking.  Oneye looks like an OS, so I subconsciously treat it like one.  If I don't use dbl click, I make a mess.   I didn't have any problem with the real/apps, this time it's the real/extern/apps.  I will check it thoroughly with completely clean, un-modified install.

When I installed the upgrade this time, I gave up the creative approach, kept the latest github files and only copied over files from my old install that did not have a name/directory match. Anything I had modified over the last month should have been tossed out and underneath all the apps I am testing "should" be a clean install.  At first, I thought it might have been something in the eyeFinder app that I was testing/working on mucking things up.  It looked cool but was written way back for eyeos1.2, so even after rewriting some of the code, I still couldn't get it to work properly. I stopped using it and uninstalled it. I didn't think it made any permanent changes to the core oneye code, but I suppose anything is possible.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

Confirmed.  I downloaded a new copy, unpacked it into localhost. logged in root/root. I did not change any settings, so still set for single click. I opened file manager, went up from there to real.  opened extern. opened apps.  Initially nothing strange happened.  I went to eyex and a few other folders and they opened fine, BUT then I realized something, so I resized the file manager box until only three of the icons could be seen. I scrolled down, clicked on eyeMP3 and it jumped into eyeCatch. I have had larger folders, like eyex with 2 extra themes installed, just delete itself.  Basically self-destructed without a trace.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

I was just in apps, not exter/apps, this time and  still have single click, and I still have a tiny file manager window showing only 3 icons at a time.  I just made eyeBoard jump into editLink.  With just a single click and a half second delay.  eyeArchives just jumped into downLink, same way.  That bug just don't wanna stay dead.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

Dang, I just made it happen in the virtual system too!  Ok, same brand new system. I copy/paste/deleted everything back to normal.  Still single clicking. opened file manager.  Still small window showing only 3 icons. scrolled to video, single clicked and waited. I got an "Open Videos with..." dialogue box (yes, I know it's a folder), and the Videos folder simultaneously jumped into the Documents folder.  As usual, I'm using the latest opera 32 bit (version 30.0).  Just to be sure, I copy/paste/deleted it back to the way it was and it did the exact same thing again, including the "Open with..." dialogue.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

OK, I actually got this! Files mess up when Scrolling down (!) and then clicking a file / folder. It's on my TODO list.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

cool.  Maybe you should remove all the menu items while in the real directories,  except copy/paste.  Then files could be copied to virtual, modified with code editor and replaced, the system reloaded, and tested on the fly.  Simply remove the options to do anything else.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

Speaking of which, I am going to try that now (copy/paste/edit/copy/paste) with a simple info.xml change to see if code editor gives back "clean" UTF8.  As long as I can copy it out of and back into real directories, I'll be happy.  The rest can be done in Virtual.

Re: [FIXED] real directory eat itself

Ah, the eyex directory didn't actually vanish.  I just found it hidden in the eyeMP3 directory.
