eyeForums

I tweaked eyeOSForum app so that it now points here.  I've been using it for a few days to read and post.  It's supposed to have an auto login feature.  It stores my information correctly in prefs but when I get the login page and the app is supposed to send the credentials, nothing happens.

The problem most likely occurs here, in this area of the events.eyecode:

" input name="user" size="10" type="hidden" value="'.$loginX.'"  "
" input name="passwrd" size="10" type="hidden" value="'.$passwordX.'"  "

If logging in with this method is possible (and not otherwise disallowed) with the oneye forums, then I just need to plug in the correct values, but if it's blocked or otherwise not possible, then I'll need to remove the unnecessary code.  What say ye Lars, yay or nay?

Re: eyeForums

You'll need to set the following parameters:

req_username: <username>
req_password: <password>
login: Login

Just try out your browsers web developer console and check the login's parameters.

Best regards,

Re: eyeForums

ok, cool, so if I get the correct parameters, it should be fine with the autologin.  I'll see what I can do.

Re: eyeForums

This app works with opera, but fails to load the forum under chrome browser.  I feel like we're at the start of another browser war, "The War of the Plugins".

Re: eyeForums

A couple of days ago, I updated my Opera client and this app stopped working with that browser.  I should have suspected it to happen as the app has never worked under Chrome.  I don't have any other details, just posting as an update.  It seems like it should be a rather straight forward app on the surface, but I've barely peeked under the hood. It's possible that the interfaces uses a deprecated command or the auto login routine violates a new security rule. I'll do a little follow-up when I get a chance to test it in other browsers.

Re: eyeForums

This app quit working, and when I tried in edge, it says the oneye forum won't load into frame. What a pity. It's that same old cross-domain, you can't put it in frame any more stuff.  So it looks like its just another dead app.  On the plus side, I learned some valuable stuff when I peeked under the hood.  Most intriguing for me was a really simple and cool way to add custom widgets inside the Title Bar.  This is an awesome way to expand the capabilities of eyeIframize, but also another way of looking at interface building for every app, old or new. Technically, I don't see any reason why an entire eyeNav style tool bar can't be placed inside the Title bar. However, I would only put an entire toolbar inside the titlebar in cases like eyeIframize that don't have a place set aside for a big icon toolbar. You could then request the URL from a Javascript alert window, and have a super slim, but full function frame-based browser.  If an app already has a full-screen button, that's an ideal candidate for a custom icon.  Almost any app can be given extra title bar widgets as far as I understand, but so far, I've only seen this technique used in the eyeforum app.
