eyeString

I have been wondering about the purpose of this app?  Is it related to development or does it even have a purpose?

Re: eyeString

Ok, I made a "new" category for that.  I found xmlviewer works flawlessly as well.  It's not as useful as I hoped, but it does work and joins eyeDeveloper and eyeDocCentre in the Development category.  I am wondering if I should start posting some stuff on github as alpha or beta versions.  I only made enough changes to make them work properly, I didn't strip away the eyeOS comments, rewrite the documentation or anything else.

I noticed one change you made recently.  Apps can no longer access files within "real://".  That change broke one of my fixes to the eyDocCentre.  I added a pdf file to the app.  I had to move the pdf to somewhere within the regular eyefile system.  I placed it in shared/public to be safe.

Re: eyeString

Nearly no application supports opening real files - that never worked anyway.

Re: eyeString

Ah, ok. When I started using the complete master from github, rather than the 0.9.5 installation, several little things changed.  I had already fixed this app and it stopped working. It may not have worked in all cases, but from inside the eyeDocCentre events code I was able to launch eyePDF and open a file that I had uploaded to a folder that I created called real/documentation/. I did it this way because eyeDocCentre cannot be opened by the low level users.  I had intended to hide the pdf and make it available only from the app's interface.  Otherwise the pdf would be all but invisible.  The PDF can be opened with the app or separately now, but the app still requires clearance.  Since there is no restrictions on using the eyeDeveloper app and the eyeDocCentre (and associated pdf) is basically a programming guide for the eyeOS1.xx series, perhaps I should just remove the restrictions on eyeDocCentre. (?)  It makes more sense to me to remove the restrictions rather than try to add them.  What do you think?

Nevermind, I am now also able to open the eyeDocCentre as standard user, I really don't think I could before.
