New Application Type: Emulators

I just had this crazy idea, but there are a few web based system emulators out there.  At least 2 are even maintained on github.  They will patch right into oneye without almost no effort.  I know right now it should be easy to create an app that will run MacOS 7, Win3.0 and Amiga.  The Amiga is currently setup for gaming apps with 4 adf/floppy slots available, but it shouldn't be too hard to make it accept hard drive files.  Michaelv.org is down, which until very recently hosted a great win3.11 emualtion including a custom browser. I hope that I either grabbed a copy of the code while the site was still up or the site returns very soon.  The browser alone would be worth a look.  There were more OSes out there (both newer and older), but I didn't really have time to test them.  I prefer those that are downloadable and standalone.  The web is too intangible/unstable to depend on very many remote hosts for apps.  Dead links kill a lot of the old apps.

Re: New Application Type: Emulators

yah, looking over this "old" post, I realize that a lot of it turned out to be a pipedream.  Most of the programmers who made these web based emulations seem to go to extreme lengths to keep someone from getting a complete and working download. I really can't blame them for being so paranoid these days, so I'm not making judgement calls here, just observations. Even the web emulations that are hosted on github seem to be missing critical pieces to make them run, or the links are tangly spaghetti for no apparent reason other than to confuse someone trying to follow them.  I may figure a few out eventually, but for now, I'm at the whim of the remote sites. I recently added windows93.net.  If you haven't seen it yet, it's a hilariously funny nostalgic look back at what never actually happened.  It's a mix of gags, goofs, guffaws and the occasional useful and/or interesting piece of software. Unless there is something in windows93 specifically forbidding me from doing so (which I doubt) I am likely going to convert all of the useful and/or interesting ones over to oneye apps.
